Set includes: 8" omelette, 10" omelette, and 12" omelette, 3qt chefs casserole with cover, 7qt chefs casserole with cover, and 2.5qt shallow saucepan with cover. Heavy-gauge aluminum is responsive to temperature changes. These pans feature the original Calphalon hard anodized surface, which is stick resistant, meaning that it sticks when you want it (when your searing, browning) and releases when you need it to(when your food is ready). If you know how cast iron cooks, you know how the hard anodized cooks, but hard anodized has many beneifts that make it better choice- aluminum is a better conductor than iron, you never season your pan(so you dont have flavor transfer from dish to dish), and it doesn't rust! All pans are spun or drawn into shape, which makes the entire pan (sides as well as bottom) the same thickness, which guarantees even heating throughout. If you enjoy cooking and want the best and most versatile surface for performing a variety of techniques- this is the surface for you! Metal utensil and broiler safe. Lifetime Warranty.

"Still cheap a year after I got this as a gift for someone..." 2010-02-24

Quality cookware...fraction of the price I've seen them elsewhere...ability to deglaze and make tasty sauces...I'm in...

I gave this as a Christmas present and everyone has loved them. A year later I'm looking for pans for myself and I find out I can get the same pans for nearly the same as I paid before.

 "Disappointed" 2010-02-22
By Ping-Ping
I too bought this set of 9-piece Calphalon Commercial cookware and only in Jan. 2010. I wrote to Amazon.com before the 30-days were up to register my dissatisfaction with the quality of the cookware but received no response. Anyway, since it IS cookware, one must use it to find out if it meets the claims made by Amazon.com but then they require the items to be new before a full refund can be issued. What is one to do with a set of expensive pots and pans that is not really quite commercial quality?

Anyway, the product information and description for this cookware is misleading when it states

1. that the list price is $492 when the quality just does not match that price, and

2. that this set of cookware "features the ORIGINAL hard anodized surface which is stick resistant..."

Aside from the "sticky" problem and whatever marks those are that will not wash away, the scratchy sound of the lid against the saucepan is the most disconcerting--it gives me goose-pimples if I am not careful. Not sure if this too is part of the ORIGINAL product from Calphalon...

It is comforting to know I am not the only customer who is disappointed with this product with the wonderful claims and reviews--perhaps those were the ORIGINAL cookware made in another time zone. Oddly enough, this item that is no longer sold by Calphalon is made specially for Amazon.com. (Now that is something to chew on.)

Anyway, the cookware is usable of course, BUT for this price, I could have gotten cookware that is better quality, more hardy, more hassle/worry-free (a lot more), and probably prettier too. (The discount won't be so "great" probably but neither will the discrepancy be between list price and brand expectation.)

Amazon.com should revise the product review and description, reduce the price, and get Calphalon to rename this product. And while they are at it, change the photo too -- the cookware is more gray than black.

 "Great purchase!" 2010-02-14

This cookware set includes a great variety of pot / skillet sizes that can be used for a wide variety of cooking needs. They are heavy weight and clean up wonderfully. I do reserve my nonstick skillet for certain foods as this set takes some getting used to since it is not nonstick.

Food sticks to pans. this was made in China not the USA. Poor workmanship, if I had known before hand I never would have bought it for my sister. Very disappointed that Amazon would deal with this kind of product. I will be thinking a second time before I use Amazon again.

 "Excellent value & quality" 2010-02-23
By Susanne (Lexington, SC United States)
I have been extremely pleased with this set of cookware! It heats evenly, cleans up exceptionally well, (inside and out), and they look great. Only minor negative comments, which aren't really so much "negatives", but more like "things to know":

The heat-proof grips on the pot lid are kind of small. If you aren't careful, it's easy to burn yourself on the metal part of the handle.

The instructions say to never use non-stick spray; I have found that it's almost impossible to cook eggs without them sticking. I try not to add unnecessary fat so didn't want to use oil or butter. I've finally broken down and used cooking spray and it hasn't caused any problems. (instructions warned that a residue would build up)

I agree with another reviewer that the sizes of the pots are a bit small and odd. The smallest one is really too small for just about everything. (it's too small to heat up canned soup!) There's a big gap between the 3 quart pot and the big stock pot (I think it's an 8 quart). However, Amazon has a 4.5 quart stockpot that matches this set, and I think that will fill in the gap nicely.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the large, covered skillet. I've not seen a piece like this in most "sets" -- it's a great piece to have.

For the money, you simply can't beat this set. I would give 5 stars except for the odd sizes of the pots, and perhaps the fact that I've burned my hand on the lid handle more than once!

great heating surface, cooks evenly, easy grip handles, variety of sizes for all kind of cooking, beware though we used a plastic spoon with a metal handle and the the metal handle hit the pan and chipped the pan, never, never use metal anything with these pans, and never put them in the dishwasher, if you want to keep that great finish

This Kitchen Aid set is exactly what a cook would hope to have in a kitchen. I've had this set for 5 years now, and it still looks brand new. I can lift the pots by the handles without burning my hand, and the lids fit securely when cooking. I always hand wash them and have never ever seen rust or peeling. It's a high-quality product for a great price. Well worth it.

 "Excellent value" 2010-02-07
By Janice M (Torrance, CA)
We purchased this set as a Christmas gift for our daughter and her family. When she opened the gift we were all very pleased with the appearance of the cookware as well as the weight of the pans. The cookware has been used on a daily basis since Chritmas and is performing well. No scorched or burned foods such as you might get from using pans without a heavy bottom. The fact they they should not be put in the dishwasher is not an issue because these pans clean up so easily. It is nice to have attractive cookware that can go directly from stove or oven to the table. I would not hesitate to make this purchase again. What a wonderful wedding gift it would make.

 "Best cookware ever!!!!" 2010-01-20
By Kimberly F. Hatley
I just received his set about a week ago. Not a long time to test it just yet but giving my review on the quality thus far. But first, let me say I ordered this set through Amazon on a Friday afternoon and received it Saturday morning! I was floored at how quickly it arrived...and with free shipping! Ok, so for the set. I am no regular cook but want to start so I did weeks and weeks of research before settling on this set. I wanted a set that had 12 pieces, clear lids and the covered handles and that could go in the over. I researched between stainless or hard anodized and it seemed the hard anodized was even stronger than stainless yet had the non-stick benefit. I opened the box and was leary of what the pans might feel like in my hand as I had never seen these in person. This is a super nice heavy set of cookware! I feel like a gourmet chef using them! They are very substantial and the hard anodized surface is all one piece inside, out, and bottom. Very quality stuff! I have only cooked with them once so far and was so impressed with the clean-up. Very easy, even easier than my old non-stick set. I highly recommend this set to the beginning or very experienced cooks!

an excellent value. I didn't want to get non-stick because I don't have a dishwasher, and I'm pretty rough on my dishes when I wash them by hand. that being said, these pots and pans are solid. for anyone who isn't a professional chef, these will do just fine for most cooking purposes. I use them everyday and they have performed beautifully so far. as the manufacturer says, don't use excessively high heat. short of that, they'll take anything you throw at them.

"Stainless steel - the best of the best cookware" 2010-02-20
By D. MacInnis (Nashville, TN)
Stainless steel is the way to go for anyone that cooks a lot or a little. It beats everything from teflon to aluminum for ease of cooking and uniform heating. I can't believe I hadn't tried this sooner. Also, for those who are interested in less chemicals in your cooked foods, this is the only way to go - nothing gets transferred from the cooking surface into your cooked foods. Teflon is for those in our society who don't know any better (it's a manmade substance created from toxic chemicals and transfers into the food during cooking) and aluminum in your diet causes alzheimers. If there is a downside, cleanup would be it. You can put this cookware through the dishwasher but I've been much more satisfied with the cleanup if hand washed. To keep the cooking surface of the pot or pan bright and clean, I use around one tablespoon of baking soda, one small squirt of liquid dish soap, and a little warm water. Using a soft sponge just mix it up in the bottom, rub it around for a moment and the surface is back to perfect. It's no exact measurements, just a little of all. If it sounds like too much trouble, my opinion is the exchange for the excellence in cookware is worth it. Also, if you have a ceramic cook-top surface, this is the way to go as the bottoms of the cookware are machined surfaces and completely flat, as well as stainless steel is number one recommended by the manufacturer of our stove.

"For the money, these are the best" 2010-02-16
By Laura O (Minneapolis, MN)
I was looking for some sturdy, good quality stainless pots and pans, but I couldn't afford the all-clads. I did a lot of research, and I came across this set. I even saw some of the pots on America's Test Kitchen saying that they were their top cheap choice for pots.

I knew that some people complained about discoloration when cooking, well, I found out that most stainless will discolor with normal use. I have indeed had my pots discolor if I do not clean them properly (chore-boy) or if I have cooked something for a really long time in them. In my experience, I learned that if there is anything stuck to the pans, boil water in them and it will take off just about anything. Also, if they do discolor, that will usually go away after I use them again.

As far as the whole eggs stick thing, yes they will. You have to lower your stove temp considerably to cook delicate things as the aluminum core really heats up well. Also, learn how to cook in stainless. That means look it up on the net etc until you are used to them. It takes some time and some burnt food in the meantime until you get the hang of it, especially coming from non-stick. Also, butter isn't the best for keeping food from sticking. Smart balance or pam works the best.

Really, I have been able to cook some great things that I couldn't cook easily with my old set. First of all, these can go into the oven and the dishwasher, two benefits over my old set. Also, I get a much better browning on meats and other foods with this set.

Overall, I really like this set a lot. I would eventually like all-clad, but for less than the cost of a single pan, I got the whole set of Cuisinart. I think it worked out well.

 "Perfect" 2010-02-15
By L. Biggs (IL)
This pot set is beautiful, well-crafted, and functional. I have wanted to switch over to stainless steal and/or aluminum because of the research that has shown teflon cookware leaches dangerous chemicals into food (don't buy non-stick cookware!--see the Environmental Protection Agency's official statement on Perfluorooctanoic Acid (PFOA) and Fluorinated Telomers that are found in non-stick cookware and products at [...]).

I was leery about how much cleaning would be involved in changing from non-stick cookware, but I was extremely surprised and pleased. I cooked rice in one of the pots, which typically leaves tough residue. It took no more time to clean these pots. I made breakfast in one of the skillet and again, clean-up was a breeze. I don't have a dishwasher, so I can't speak about that, but they are dishwasher-safe.

I use wooden spoons and spatulas, but the product information states that minor scratches from using stainless-steal utensils won't harm the integrity of the product.

In all, I highly recommend these pots and pans. They have some great features (great lid-vacuum seal, the ability to go in the oven up to 500F, and FAST heating), they are easy to clean, and they look so wonderful hanging in my kitchen's pot rack!

Highly recommend.

I jumped on this record during the promotion and got it for free, and I'm impressed. If you are into modern progressive rock, you won't be disappointed. If I had seen this band live, I would have almost definitely shelled out $10-15 to buy it. I can see The Great City making my regular music rotation.

 "Not All Bad ..." 2010-01-24
By LotsOf Music4Me (Connecticut, USA)
Tracks 1,2,3 are a noisy mess; it must have been deliberate. But the rest of this album can be enjoyed, and without needlessly analyzing lyrics. Noting that the group has been around for a while, this listener (who feels that "Boston" is the Greatest Band Ever), finds most of the tracks here worthwhile and encourages the sound.

"Revere really rocks ... and so much more!" 2010-01-19
By Robert Ross (Florida USA)
Is there anything more useless than a music review that includes the phrases "shouting or screaming" and "not my cup of tea?" Might as well (figuratively) wave your fist in the air while shouting "Young whippersnappers!" or "Get off my lawn!" It tells the reader nothing about the musicians or their music, but everything about the geezer ... um, I mean, the reviewer.

As pointed out by an earlier review, Revere is a Pennsylvania progressive rock band comprised of twins Sean and Patrick Kelly, and Michael Pearson (from Warrington, PA actually), who began their musical collaboration as Concord. "The Great City" is their first full-length offering, which follows previous 4-song and 8-song EPs. Also, as pointed out by earlier reviews, this is a concept album. It follows a distinct story line through each track ... a tale of people following an old man on a mystical journey. And, best of all, it is the first half of that effort - a later album will complete the story.

Sean Kelly's vocals are nuanced and powerful, driving the energy of the hardest rocking tracks (e.g.="The Old Man and the Inn" or "The Time, The Light, The Heart"), yet retreating to a lilting ballad on "Rest." For a three-piece band (guitar, bass and drums), these guys really put out the sound!

This album is available exclusively from Amazon - and FREE - on January 19th. If you miss that fantastic deal, don't despair. This album (and the hoped-for sequel to follow) is worth the asking price. So buy it ... you won't be sorry.

"A Great New Concept Album - what a concept" 2010-01-19
By Cynthia Cochrane
This is a really cool record. Not the kind of thing I would normally listen to but so glad I downloaded it (and for free, really!!). Reminds me of the great age of the album when artists had a concept start to finish - so unlike most of the stuff today which is usually one or two "hit" songs and a bunch of filler. Check it out and make sure to really listen to the lyrics and go on the journey with these guys, you'll be glad you did.
